Government agencies, embassies and UN agencies
Government agencies
Government development agencies include funding for civil society as part of their programmes. Check which agencies have offices in your country, and what work they focus on. The following governments have previously assisted civil society organisations working on child marriage:
- Canada through Global Affairs Canada.
- The Netherlands through the Foreign Investment and Development Agency.
- The United Kingdom through the Department for International Development (DFID), now the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
- The United States of America through USAID.
- Norway through the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad)
- Sweden through Swedish International Development Cooperation (Sida)

Embassies
Some countries’ embassies provide small grants to organisations based in their host countries. This has been the case for Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States and Sweden, among others.
Research or contact embassies to explore opportunities for funding or other types of support.

United Nations agencies
Some United Nations agencies and departments offer funding directly to civil society organisations.

- UNICEF and UNFPA do not have established funds to make donations, but they do manage the Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage in twelve countries (Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Yemen and Zambia). Contact your local UNICEF or UNFPA office for more information.
- United Nations Voluntary Fund on Disability.
