This UNICEF brief presents data on trends in child marriage in Africa between 2010 and 2015. Specifically it shows that:
- Rates of child marriage have declined slightly in most regions, but progress is uneven.
- Some countries have achieved dramatic declines, including Ethiopia, Zambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Rwanda.
- However, the rate of progress in the region as a whole needs to substantially increase in order to eliminate child marriage by 2030.
