Launch of the child marriage monitoring mechanism: Charting Brighter Futures launch event
UNICEF and partners, June 2 2021, 12:30 GMT
To support the sustainable Development Goals to eliminate all harmful practices by 2030, UNICEF have established the Child Marriage Monitoring Mechanism as a platform to generate relevant analyses, make data accessible and promote data use. On 2 June 2021, UNICEF, and its partners (Girls Not Brides and 9 other organisations) will host a launch event to present the vision behind this initiative and mobilise support. The launch event will feature keynote statements on the importance of data-driven action, a presentation on the Mechanism and its goals, and a stakeholders’ dialogue on child marriage monitoring.
As one of the key partners supporting this mechanism, Girls Not Brides, is among ten member organisations that will provide expertise and insights to the Monitoring Mechanism in support of its activities and deliverables. This will include sharing technical perspectives on data needs, as well as opportunities for data-driven advocacy and mobilization of country-level engagement.
We invite Girls Not Brides members to join this event and hear more about this initiative about bringing together international, regional, and civil society organizations and young people around a shared commitment to strengthening monitoring and accountability on ending child marriage.
