The Times of India reports from a village in Chennai, India, where members of the community prevented local officials from intervening in a marriage between a 41-year old man and a 14-year old girl.
CHENNAI: Due to opposition from the local community, the state government has been unable to take any action to prevent child marriage in Jumbumadai village in Namakkal district. The villagers have been resisting efforts by local government officials to reach out to the community besides collecting more information on what’s happening there.
