Sudipta Das
- Senior Officer for Communications for Learning
As the Senior Officer for Communications for Learning, Sudipta spearheads the Girls Not Brides communications strategy in the Asia region through evidence-based storytelling and narrative shifts through collaborative and collective efforts involving diverse stakeholders. Their work involves positioning child, early, and forced marriage (CEFM) as a priority issue, effectively communicating the work of the Girls Not Brides secretariat and member organisations, creatively sharing evidence and learning in ways adapted to various contexts and diverse audiences at the national, regional, and global levels, and integrating processes to ensure ethical communications, risk assessment, and mitigation.
Sudipta is a South Asian anti-caste queer feminist, communications expert, and award-winning writer with nine years of experience working on key themes such as child rights, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and queer-trans rights. Previously, they worked to build connections between regional, national, and global policy engagement spaces to demand equitable, accessible, and quality SRHR services for gender-diverse adolescents and young people as the Policy Engagement Officer at The YP Foundation. During that time, they also served as the regional secretariat of the South-East Asian Youth Health Action Network, a transnational coalition of youth rights organizations from 10 South-East Asian countries, supported by WHO-SEARO.
Sudipta enjoys writing on key issues such as caste, queerness, health, gender-based violence, love, and culture. As a freelance writer, they have contributed to multiple Indian publications, producing opinion and narrative journalistic pieces. Much of their writing is deeply rooted in the narratives of those directly affected by social inequalities, aiming to offer insights into the complexities of social justice in South Asian contexts.
Sudipta is currently based in New Delhi, India, and is fluent in Bengali, English, and Hindi.
