As Global Safeguarding Manager, Peggie is responsible for delivering on all aspects of safeguarding at Girls Not Brides. She collaborates with all functions and teams to co-create activities that are delivered safely across the Girls Not Brides secretariat and their work with member organisations, coalitions and partners. She is based in Nigeria and is motivated by the need to support girls and young women to realise their fullest potentials.
Peggie has over 15 years’ experience in development and humanitarian contexts, working with children, women, youth and other marginalised population groups across Nigeria. She has successfully integrated safeguarding into all her professional roles, including those focused on community action against HIV/AIDS stigmatisation; emergency management; public-private partnerships; and community engagements for orphans and at-risk children. She has also worked on government policy addressing children’s rights, and national and sub-national frameworks promoting the wellbeing of children and women in disasters.
Peggie is passionate about driving positive change for children and youth. She reflects this by being a resource to girls and young women, supporting them to set and reach their goals. She influences policy and decisions that ensure the wellbeing of girls at all levels, and supports girls and young women through mentorship and community engagement to increase awareness on ending child marriage and promoting girls’ rights.
Peggie speaks English and holds a Ph.D. in Population and Development.
