As Senior Project Officer, Gender-Transformative Approaches, Mercy acts as technical lead, coordinating the implementation of the gender-transformative approaches project with the Mozambique National Partnership to End Child Marriage and the National Coalition to End Child Marriage in Nigeria.
She is based in Nigeria and supports the National Partnership and coalition country coordinators and member organisations in both countries with/through interventions and tools to enhance commitment, knowledge and capacity in gender-transformative programming and advocacy to end child marriage and achieve gender equality.
Before joining Girls Not Brides, Mercy worked with Christian Aid Nigeria, where she was responsible for ensuring that programme and project activities from development to evaluation were effectively integrating – and continuously improving approaches to – gender equality and social inclusion. She was also responsible for programming to end harmful practices and violence against women and girls – including working with faith and traditional leaders – prevention and response to gender-based violence and protection.
Mercy is an International Development Professional with a decade’s experience in leading inclusive, women-led and women-focused interventions in community health and HIV, democracy and good governance, and humanitarian interventions. She is also a seasoned Partnership Management Professional.
Mercy holds a Master’s Degree in International Development Studies.
