Katya Stokes
- Evidence Engagement Coordinator
As Evidence Engagement Coordinator, Katya supports Girls Not Brides to effectively communicate evidence and learning to influence and accelerate change to prevent and respond to child marriage. She works with the Learning Team to ensure that the latest research and evidence is accessible and relevant to different audiences, including members, donors, and partners. She also supports the Child Marriage Research to Action Network (CRANK) initiative in promoting stronger coordination of research and uptake of evidence on child marriage.
For the last three years, Katya has worked closely with the CEO and Board of Girls Not Brides as Executive Associate, while also supporting a number of other projects across the organisation. Prior to joining Girls Not Brides, she undertook an internship with Terre des Hommes in Brussels, carrying out research and administrative support on a range of child rights issues.
Katya holds an MA in Human Rights and Democratisation and an LLB in Law. She wrote her Master’s thesis on the effectiveness of forced marriage legislation at tackling child marriage in the UK.
Katya is fluent in English and French, and also speaks some German and Italian.
