At a glance
Founded in 1976, Action India envisions a gender just and egalitarian society. The organisation aims to build communities where women’s initiative and leadership enables collective action to address problems and create sustainable solutions. Raising awareness on menstrual health and hygiene is amongst Action India’s key areas of work. One of its Sanitary Pad units was the subject of the short documentary Period. End of Sentence, which won them an Academy Award in 2019.
