In her report to the Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, describes child marriage as a form of exploitation related to trafficking and explains how it happens in situations of conflict and displacement.

The report makes recommendations and calls States to prevent child marriage, prosecute all forms of trafficking of women and girls, and train all stakeholders, including humanitarian personnel, to identify risks of trafficking.
