This Human Rights Watch report documents how child marriage prevents girls and women in Malawi from participating in all spheres of life, and how it violates their rights to education, to health, and to a life free from violence.
It examines the absence of protection for victims of child marriage, the obstacles they face in attempting to obtain redress, and the shortcomings of existing programmes to end child marriage.
Finally, it makes recommendations to the Malawi government to develop and implement a stronger policy and legislative framework to address child marriage.
