The Population Council Mexico undertook exploratory research to assess, document and better understand the problem of child marriage in four countries in Central America – El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua – and in the state of Oaxaca and Guerrero in southern Mexico.

The project also aimed to share current information about child marriage among a network of like-minded experts in the sub-region to lay the groundwork for the support and development of targeted and effective interventions designed for the context of Central America.
