Child protection and child marriage
This brief focuses on how investing in effective child protection systems can expand and accelerate action to prevent and respond to child marriage at scale.
Girls are less likely to marry as children if they are empowered, live in enabling and protective environments, can access services that are tailored to their needs and are supported by laws that uphold their rights.
Child protection systems are a key element in creating these conditions. They are also a critical part of a multi-sectoral approach to preventing child marriage and responding to the needs of girls who marry as children.
