Population Reference Bureau's brief looks at the latest data on child marriage, girls' education and female genital cutting in Egypt. It finds that while girls' school attendance is rising, rates of female genital cutting remain high and the number of child brides and adolescent mothers are rising.

The briefing points to a number of reasons for this slow progress including population growth, the prevalence of discriminatory norms and lack of law enforcement at the local level.
