This scorecard presents evidence that girls who marry young and have many children are part of a high risk group for cervical cancer because they are often exposed to early sexual initiation and have multiple births – factors which significantly increase the risk of developing this disease.

It also shows that the top 20 countries with the highest cumulative risk and absolute numbers of cervical cancer include 11 to 12 of the countries with the highest rates of child marriage.
