The threat to adolescent development from Covid-19 in rural Bangladesh

Extended school closures in Bangladesh since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic has, according to a wide range of media sources, increased the risk of early marriage among adolescent girls. The evidence suggest that the pandemic may have a prolonged adverse effect on the incidence of female early marriage in Bangladesh. We discuss the policy implications of these findings.
