Sara Hurtarte

Sara Hurtarte is a Guatemalan social sector professional with over 10 years of experience in youth-focused programs and social policies. As Advocacy Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean, she leads the organization’s tracking and analysis of regional and national policy developments and delivers compelling regional advocacy and campaign agendas for Girls Not Brides.
Before joining Girls Not Brides, Sara served as Co-Executive Director of the award-winning nonprofit Asociación SERES, where she led the design and promotion of youth leadership programs, positively impacting indigenous and rural communities in Guatemala and El Salvador. She has also coordinated youth programs, worked on national youth policies within government agencies in Guatemala, and published a case study on teenage pregnancies in Guatemala at the Australian and New Zealand School of Government.
Sara is known for her analytical skills, strategic thinking, and effective management of nonprofit initiatives, including fundraising and program evaluation. She holds a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. She speaks Spanish, English, Italian and is currently studying French.
