As Development Manager, Karla contributes to securing funding for the Girls Not Brides’ secretariat and mobilising resources for the end child marriage movement more broadly. She cultivates and strengthens new and existing relationships with donors, leads the development of funding proposals, and project manages funding to ensure smooth donor relations, compliance and reporting.
Karla brings over 15 years’ experience in fundraising and business development with a track record of securing seven-figure income through proposals. Before joining Girls Not Brides, Karla was at Social Development Direct, a women-led SME social enterprise providing gender equality and social inclusion consultancy and research. Before this, she was at Action Aid UK, where she led strategy and coordination of grant proposals and selected commercial tenders across a range of thematic areas, including girls’ education and violence against women and girls.
Karla holds an MA in International Relations. She has two small children and enjoys travelling.
