Jean Casey
- Research Coordination Specialist: Evidence to Action
As Research Coordination Specialist: Evidence to Action, Jean leads the secretariat’s efforts to support stronger coordination of global, regional, and national evidence generation and action which supports the movement’s efforts to accelerate change to end child marriage
She is responsible for leading and delivering on the Child Marriage Research to Action Network (CRANK) strategies and workstreams - supporting a more equitable child marriage research and learning agenda, ensuring that the priorities of regional, national networks and member organisations inform global learning priorities. Her work focuses on bridging research and practice by helping to build consensus about solutions to address child marriage, collating and sharing research and evidence, and using this to support Girls Not Brides members’ work and advance knowledge and practice among the broader movement to end child marriage.
Jean brings over 20 years of experience as a senior researcher and advocate specialising in adolescent girls’ and women’s rights in global and regional contexts. She has in-depth experience in leading, operationalising and project managing global and multi-regional research projects in diverse contexts. She is committed to bridging the gap between research and practice, and to fostering effective action to promote the rights of girls and women.
Before joining Girls Not Brides, Jean worked at the global and regional levels at ActionAid UK, the International Rescue Committee and Plan International. She also worked at the national level with feminist organisations Central American Women’s Fund and Punto de Encuentro in Nicaragua.
Jean holds an MA in International Development and a BSc in Social Sciences. She speaks English, Spanish and advanced French.
