Jacky Repila
- Senior Gender Officer
As Gender Officer in the Learning and Partnership Development team, Jacky works closely with colleagues in Girls Not Brides’ Regional and Policy and Advocacy teams, and peers striving to put women’s and girls’ rights at the heart of the global movement to end child marriage.
With a focus on human rights and gender, Jacky supports member organisations’ learning and practice to ensure all women and girls have voice and choice. This means a strong focus on social norms and sexuality, and developing a shared understanding of how gender inequality – in all its shapes and forms – is both a cause and a consequence of child marriage.
Before joining Girls Not Brides, Jacky worked with Oxfam country teams around the world, supporting programme design and learning, with a focus on transformative women’s leadership and political participation. Before that, she spent 10 years accompanying Christian Aid partners in West Africa in designing and delivering integrated, community-based development programmes.
Jacky is particularly interested in the link between the personal and the political, and how to build confidence and self-esteem – or “agency” – at the individual level.
