Centre de Promotion des Femmes et des Jeunes Filles (CEPROFE) is a registered organisation formed in 2012 by a group of women and girl volunteers in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The formation of CEPROFE was motivated by the desire to see an end to the suffering of women and girls from various forms of negative practices. These include traditional practices that entrench unequal opportunities and representation of women in political leadership. The organisation addresses sexual abuse and gender-based violence, as well as the abuse of women’s human rights generally. CEPROFE moreover works to counter the negative impact on women and girls brought on by civil conflict, political violence and wars, poverty and unemployment.
