Webinar: Gender and education during COVID-19
Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) webinar: Gender and education during COVID-19
May 4, 2020 09:00 AM EST
The Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) is a global network of more than 14,000 individual members and 130 partner organisations in 190 countries. INEE members are practitioners working for national and international NGOs and UN agencies, ministry of education and other government personnel, donors, students, teachers, and researchers who voluntarily join in the work related to education in emergencies.
According to UNESCO, 180 countries had implemented nationwide school and university closures by the end of March 2020. This affects over 87% of world’s student population. If schools are closed, girls in development or humanitarian settings may be at increased risk of sexual exploitation, abuse and child marriage.
REGISTRATION: For more information about the webinar and for details on how to register to join, please visit the INEE website.
Join sector practitioners for an upcoming webinar which will explore issues of how to address gender equity in education in emergencies during COVID-19. Education in Emergencies (EiE) actors will highlight the challenges faced by women and girls, men and boys during the pandemic and provide practical recommendations and examples of gender-responsive support.
Panellists will apply a gender lens to distance learning and social and emotional learning (SEL). The webinar will also be an opportunity for a wider discussion with INEE members through a moderated discussion.
